Minutes, April 28, 1948-June 29, 1978.

Photocopies of formal minutes of meetings. The Committee was established by the California Legislature in 1948 to oversee investigations of the depletion in the Pacific sardine (Sardinaps sagax also known as Sardinaps caerules). Membership originally consisted of 9 people including representatives of SIO, the fishing industry, the California Fish and Game Commission and the public. In 1957, the Committee was reorganized and adopted a long view of marine life research, rather than concentrating specifically on the sardine study. The MRC was one of the groups which encouraged the development of the Marine Life Research Program at SIO.
